Organized annually by the <strong>Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)<\/strong>, the UAS Challenge is one of the premier student competitions in Europe focused on the design, development, and operation of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong>UAS challenge 2025<\/strong> tasked teams with creating a drone capable of autonomously delivering humanitarian aid to disaster-struck areas inaccessible by road, mimicking real-world applications in remote logistics and emergency response.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"O.L.I.V.I.A.&#039;s 3rd competition flight (FPV)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CsawPs0WdDw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Year of Engineering Excellence<\/h3>\n\n<p>Fly-Mi\u2019s journey began in <strong>October 2024,<\/strong> kicking off a demanding and immersive engineering project that spanned nearly ten months. Throughout the process, the team produced a series of detailed <strong>technical reports<\/strong> documenting every phase of their design. From early concept studies to aerodynamic modeling, structural analysis, and software integration, the documentation reflected the comprehensive nature of the project. In addition, the team was honored with the coveted<strong> Safety Award<\/strong>, recognizing their thorough approach to risk assessment, disciplined engineering practices, and a safety-first mindset throughout the design, construction, testing, and operation of O.L.I.V.I.A. <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Milestone Achievement<\/h3>\n\n<p>This result marks a <strong>major milestone<\/strong> for Fly-MI EUROAVIA Milano and for Politecnico di Milano\u2019s aerospace student community.
