Aerodynamics
The Aerodynamics Department focuses on the analysis and design of the airflow around the drone, in close collaboration with the Flight Mechanics Department. A preliminary analysis of the raw configuration of the drone is conducted with softwares based on panel methods, and the resulting configuration is then optimized and validated through CFD simulations.
The department is looking for someone who has at least a basic understanding of CFD setups (geometry, meshing, simulations, post-processing) and who has had a first approach with it.
Currently, simulations are done with Ansys Fluent. However, knowledge of this software is not mandatory, as we are looking to diversify our resources.
The department is trying to strengthen itself with students more or less expert who have familiarity with fluid dynamics and its modeling. The recruitment is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, as long as they feel they have the above-mentioned knowledge.
For the Aerodynamics department, it will be possible to optionally include a report of a project carried out in a university or personal context (in “.pdf” format) in the form.
Following the written test, there will be a technical/informational interview with the department head. During this meeting, it will be possible to present any projects for which you do not have a written report to upload in the form.

Candidates for the “Communication” section will be able to showcase projects carried out in the past or submit ideas and proposals to improve the association’s image.
Structures
The department is responsible for the design of the aircraft structure, choosing the necessary materials and verifying that it will withstand the loads of the flight mission. Solidworks and Abaqus are used for design process.
The department uses innovative technologies and materials specific to aerospace, such as composites and 3D printing. It collaborates and interfaces with other departments to optimize mass distribution, determine the geometry of bodies and to fix the position of servo actuators and wiring harnesses.
The Structures Department is closely involved in production and assembly.
At least one of the following knowledge is required to join the department:
- Deep knowledge of finite element analysis with Abaqus
- Familiarity with Solidworks and CAD modeling
- Good or excellent knowledge of materials and technology associated with model aircraft
- Knowledge/experience in the world of model aircraft.
The recruitment is open to both bachelor’s and master’s degree students, as long as they have the required knowledge listed above.
The Structures Department will conduct a written test followed by a personalized oral examination that will build upon the strengths and weaknesses identified in the written assessment. The interview will include theoretical questions tailored to the candidate’s level of expertise. Additionally, discussions and questions may arise based on material samples.
