Meeting with Sponsor

Today part of the team had the opportunity to have a meeting with three of our new partners: Bercella, CMS Spa and Xenia Materials.

After visiting Bercella’s headquarters in Varano de’ Melegari (PR), we had a very stimulating discussion with the partner companies. In addition to the agreement for the production of moulds for our new project, Bercella and CMS Spa have provided us with information about CMS Kreator, the large-scale additive manufacturing machine that will be able to produce models and moulds for the subsequent production of parts in composite materials. Given our high mechanical performance requirements, Xenia Materials provided the material for making the molds: XECARB® 40-C20-3DP, a special carbon fiber-reinforced polycarbonate that they have developed.
It was very interesting for us to learn that each mold is completely recyclable. When the molds are made, the material is melted down to be deposited by the 3D printing system, and once the thermoplastic material is used, it can be shredded to recover the original granules.
