Participation in UAS Challenge
Fly-Mi EUROAVIA Milano is proud to announce that this year it will participate in the UAS Challenge 2025, designing and building its third prototype: O.L.I.V.I.A.
The UAS Challenge 2025 is an annual competition organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) that challenges university teams from all over the world to design, build and fly an unmanned aerial system (UAS), with the intention of encouraging innovation and practical engineering skills among students, promoting inter-university collaboration in the UAS technology sector. (UAS Challenge – Institution of Mechanical Engineers)
The goal:
This year’s mission will simulate the delivery of a humanitarian aid package following a natural disaster. The competition requires teams to develop a UAS capable of operating autonomously and performing a series of specific tasks, including waypoint navigation, delivery of a humanitarian aid package, and return to base via a defined route, while demonstrating the efficiency, maneuverability, and sustainability of the aircraft.
Important dates:
n addition to the Fly-Off event, which will be held in Buckminster (UK) from June 30th to July 3rd, 2025, the competition also involves the submission of a series of deliverables, including the Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Design and Development Specifications (March 7th) and prototype reconstruction on X-Plane (April 7th). Before the Fly-Off Event, it will also be necessary to submit the Flight Readiness Review. In addition to the flight tests, the Business Presentation will be held during the Fly-Off Event.
