Aethra

The pilot project

In the association's first year of operation, Aethra primarily served as a pilot project. The primary goal was not to achieve competitive performance, but to test the team's ability to navigate the entire development cycle of an aircraft over a single academic year.

The project starts from the SAE Aero Design competition rules, using it as a reference point to define the aircraft’s requirements, even though it did not actually participate in the competition.

The aircraft was designed in a medium-wing configuration, with a single tractor propeller and a traditional tailplane. Propulsion is electric and manual control.

The structure is made mainly of carbon fiber. The production process involved autoclave rolling on an open mold, allowing the team to engage for the first time with production techniques specific to the construction of lightweight composite aircraft structures.
